Sydney to Macksville


Welcome to your Mid North Coast over 50″s Getaway departing Sydney on the North Coast XPT in your preferred seats sit back, relaxing and enjoying the scenery as you are whisked away up the north coast of NSW to Macksville. On arrival you will be met by your host from the Mid Coast Motel and transferred to your accommodation for the next six nights. Dinner tonight is served with complimentary drinks and as always in our licensed restaurant again.


Grafton Day Out

After breakfast , we board the coach and head to Grafton for the day. One of our stops is the magnificent Schaeffer House, home of the Clarence River Historical Society. After our visit to this historical house we head to Lawrence on the Clarence River. We stop in at “The Garden Shed” with its exhibition of hundreds of bells as well as plants and other interesting items. Moving on we pull into the old 2nvr radio station which now houses the “Lawrence Museum” after our great lunch and our inquisitive poking around we head down the road to board the Clarence river punt (coach and all).


Port Macquarie & Big Brother Mountain

Today its southward bound and off to Kendall Railway Station for morning tea as well as peruse the craft shop built into the station. We then move onto North Brother Mountain for some fantastic views over the region. We make our way down the mountain to our lunch time stop before proceeding to Rod Pages Crystalline Pottery. Here we are given a potters wheel demo before making our way to the Koala Hospital in Port Macquarie then home.


Nambucca Valley & Pub with No Beer

Today a highlight of your over 50’s getaway begins with a visit to the famous Bowraville Museum whilst having our morning tea we are able to view all the artefacts of the museum. After boarding the coach we take a scenic drive through Nambucca Heads before arriving at our lunch time stop. After lunch we drive out to the famous Pub with no Beer for a glimpse of Australian heritage, we then move onto the Macnuts Macadamia nut processing factory, free samples are given as well as being able to buy their products. Lastly we take a leisurely through townships of Stuart’s Point, Grassy Heads and Scotts Head.

Today we depart for our overnight visit to Armidale, so pack a small overnight bag. On our way we pull in at Wollomombi Falls and onto St Kilda Pub for lunch. After lunch we head out to Saumarez House for a tour of this historic house. We later move onto the University of New England and a tour of Armidale itself. At the end of the day we book into our motel before going out to dinner.


Armidale – Macksville

After breakfast we head out to do some sight seeing including Gotswyck Chapel and De-Earge Woolshed as well as going out to Sunhill Dairy Goats where we are given a talk and tour of the farm as well as the chance to peruse and buy goat milk health and beauty products. We conclude our day with a lunch stop as well as a short tour of Uralla including McCrossins Mill (time permitting). After our tour of the Mill we start heading home, back to Macksville


Heading Home


After breakfast your Mid North Coast over 50’s Getaway is coming to an end as  you are transferred to Macksville Railway Station in time to catch the 7.21am train to Sydney. Sit back and relax watching the ever changing scenery reminiscing the wonderful memories of your over 50’s Getaway before arriving Sydney at 3.39pm.
