Sydney to Grafton


Welcome to your Grafton Getaway rail package departing Sydney Central Station at 7.11am on board the Casino train. On arrival at Grafton, you will be met by your host from the Hilldrop Motor Inn and transferred to your accommodation, your home for the next five nights.


Yamba and Iluka.


We begin the day with a hearty hot breakfast and depart the motel 9am for our first day exploring the valley. Your driver will deliver an interesting and informative commentary throughout the day. Motoring north east we trace the path of the mighty Clarence as it meanders to the sea. Along the way you will enjoy lovely scenery as we pass through sugar fields, dairy herds, beef cattle as well as historic villages and remnants of times gone past. We soon arrive in Yamba and enjoy a complimentary morning tea overlooking Yamba main beach.

Following an exploration of Yamba, we head for Yamba Bay and board the Clarence River Ferry for a lovely journey of about 30 minutes across the Clarence to Iluka where we will enjoy lunch at Sedgers Reef Hotel. (own expense) After lunch be wind our way back to Grafton via a local cane farm and interesting visit to model train exhibition.


Grafton City and Maclean.


Explore the first City on the North Coast, historic Grafton. Established in 1885 Grafton features wide tree lined streets and graceful old buildings. It’s one of Australia’s most beautiful rural cities. During the morning visit a cattle auction, historic Schaefer House museum, Christ Church Cathedral, watch jewellery made at the lapidary club, morning tea in beautiful See Park, drive down the spectacular Fig Tree Avenue and lots more. We will break for lunch in Grafton Shopping world.

Then resume our sightseeing with a lovely drive through Southgate and Lawrence as we head for the Scottish Capital of Australia, Maclean. This beautiful town is located on the banks of the mighty Clarence River.It has a strong Scottish influence with many Scottish Tartans draped on telegraph poles. Scottish Cain and breathtaking scenic views from the Maclean lookout. We will have a short break in the town centre then retrace our path to Grafton via a really lovely drive through Woodford Island, the largest river island in the southern hemisphere.


Scenic Coffs Harbour and Woolgoolga


Today will be a great day on your Grafton Getaway motoring south to Woolgoolga. Taking in breathtaking views from the Woolgoolga headland lookout. Following a complimentary morning tea we head for the Clog Barn where our host makes Dutch Clogs before your eyes.Then it’s into the miniature Dutch Village before we continue our exploration of Coffs Harbour Jetty and Botanical Gardens. We break for lunch at the Palms Centre then commence our return to Grafton via the famous Big Banana then drive through Banana Plantations as we continue through the Wedding Bell forest drive to Nana Glen where you will visit Two Tails winery for a tasting and talk on wine.


World Heritage Washpool and the Gibralter Range.


A wonderful day to explore the world famous Washpool National Park from the comfort of your scenic tour bus. You will enjoy fabulous scenery as you drive through the scenic Mann River Valley then wind your way to the summit of the range. We motor deep into the wilderness area where we enjoy a delicious picnic lunch. You may choose to enjoy a 15-minute walk into the canopy of the rainforest. Re boarding the bus we head for Raspberry lookout and Boundary Creek Falls. We return to Grafton with a slight detour into the Mann River Crossing near Cangai. What a great day out.


Heading Home


After breakfast, your Grafton Getaway rail package is coming to an end when you are transferred to Grafton Railway Station in time to catch the 5.15am train to Sydney, arriving at 3.39pm with wonderful memories of your Grafton Getaway.
