Puffing Billy Or Melbourne City Sights – Free Afternoon

Puffing Billy 

A relaxing and pleasant morning tour surrounded by the rainforest of the Dandenong Ranges National Park. Greenery everywhere and sound of nature with bird calls makes for a scenic and delightful tour. Visit Sherbrooke Forest with its tall eucalypts and at Grants Picnic Ground, enjoy an authentic Australian experience … our Aussie style Bush Billy Tea with lamingtons, Vegemite and crackers. Here you will also get to meet many of the locals … Crimson Rosellas and King Parrots! There is time for a short bushwalk before riding on Australia’s most notable narrow-gauge railway on Puffing Billy steam train. This tour returns to the city at 1pm leaving you time to explore the city’s famous shopping precinct and many dining areas.

Melbourne City Sights

Experience the beautiful sights of Melbourne this morning. Join the Melbourne city tour and be treated to a morning of informative commentary and colourful atmosphere exploring Fitzroy Gardens, Queen Victoria Market, a few unique laneways and arcades and a drive through Chinatown. At the conclusion of your city tour, wander down to the riverside to join a scenic and relaxing cruise on the Yarra River, a great photo opportunity. This afternoon is yours at leisure.

Melbourne to Sydney

To head to your next destination on your 3 Cities 3 Trains rail adventure. Join The XPT this morning and settle in to your First Class Seat. Enjoy the passing of scenery as you travel from Melbourne to Sydney. On arrival make your way to your quality central Sydney Hotel (minimum 4 star)

Morning Sydney City Tour with Captain Cook Harbour Luncheon Cruise

Highlights of this tour – A brief walking tour of the Historic Rocks area – the birthplace of Sydney, Sydney Opera House, Hyde Park, St. Mary’s Cathedral, Parliament House, Art Gallery of NSW, Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney Town Hall, Sydney Tower, Stop at Mrs Macquarie’s Chair – great photo opportunity of the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House! Indian Pacific

Today commence the highlight rail journey of the 3 Cities 3 Trains Rail adventure when you join the Indian Pacific. Departing Sydney in the afternoon and start a true journey of contrasts – it will travel through the heights of the majestic Blue Mountains and across the barren expanse of the Nullarbor Plain, to lush vineyards and vast goldmines, and from cities of 4 million to ghost towns of just four citizens. Named for the two oceans the train encounters on its journey, the Indian Pacific travels between Perth and Sydney, via Adelaide, in a spectacular 4352km journey.

Get acquainted with staff and your cabin, and settle in for the journey. As you venture beyond the city limits, settle back, open a book or switch on your onboard radio upon approach to the spectacular Blue Mountains. If you’d rather be social, make your way to the Outback Explorer Lounge to meet fellow guests and help yourself to a welcome drink. After a sumptuous dinner, join other guests for a few late-night drinks or head to your cabin to settle in early and await the sights of your first incredible outback sunrise the next day

Broken Hill & Arrive Adelaide

Wake up with a coffee as you arrive in Broken Hill, a classic mining town where the streets are wide and there is a pub on every corner. On your Off-Train Excursion, explore the beauty of this Silver City and discover the history of mining that makes the town what it is today and the artistic culture that also abounds in the area. Visit the Pro Hart Gallery, where you can learn all about one of Australia’s most iconic and enduring artists, whose art captures the spirit of the outback. Stepping back onboard, head straight to Queen Adelaide Restaurant for breakfast. An extensive menu caters to all tastes. Take your time as you have a full day onboard to yourself. By the time lunch is served, you’ll already be well into South Australia on the southern tip of the Flinders Ranges. Your 3 cities 3 trains experience concludes as your arrive in Adelaide mid afternoon to end a wonderful rail experience.
